BARN ACQUISITION PROCESS

1. PURCHASE AGREEMENT

To request a quote, land owners send over photos, dimensions, and general information about the condition of their barn. The team at Antique Building Solutions reviews their request for a quote, visits the barn, performs a cost analysis for barn deconstruction, and provides a quote based on the age, location, and materials of the barn.

Following the quote, a purchase agreement is agreed upon and signed. 10% of the purchase price is paid upon signing and the remainder is paid in full at the end of the job.

2. BREAKDOWN DATES

Following the purchase agreement, a list of site preparation instructions is sent to the land owner to determine their desired specifications for treating the barn’s foundation, clearing out the barn’s interior, and identifying responsibility for job site cleanup.

At this stage, an initial breakdown date will be determined along with a maximum timeline for completion.

3. JOBSITE ARRIVAL

Between four to six workers will arrive at the barn each week, Mondays thru Fridays, to dismantle the barn board by board.

Work at the job site is slow and meticulous to ensure that each board and beam is protected from marks that may come during the deconstruction process.

4. EQUIPMENT USED

Our workers use a variety of equipment from hammers and ladders to lifts, skid steer loaders, and trailers to haul barn wood boards and beams.

The process of barn deconstruction may look and sound like a busy job site, but each step of the process is controlled and monitored to ensure that every facet of the barn is treated with care.

5. DISMANTLING

On average, deconstructing a barn from the top down takes an average of two weeks.

After dismantling the structure, all quality reclaimed barn wood is carefully transported from the job site to our facility in Howard, PA, where it is then sorted, graded, and treated.

6. JOBSITE DEPARTURE

As with any old structure, remaining debris is inevitable at the end of the process. At the onset, the land owner will determine whether they would like to be responsible for hauling debris to a nearby landfill.

Antique Building Solutions is able to clear and clean the entire job site, but such services are optional.
